Here is a cool rules addition to your games of When Zombies Attack! Use of this rule will slightly increase the length of your games. Thank you to Christy Wilson and Alex Duenas for coming up with it.

MASS OUTBREAK
In addition to the normal rules for an Outbreak, whenever an outbreak occurs with 3 or more zombie attack dice, every player also brings back into play a dead zombie from their graveyard, if they have one. The zombie attack die is placed in each player's zombie mob to be rolled on their next turn.

Here is a simple scoring system you can use for your WZA! games that a fan came up with. Thank you Steven Rogers for this cool idea. 


"Simply put, each player receives 10 points for each zombie that he/she kills by the end of the round (R.I.P.).  In addition, anyone who lives through a round of play receives 50 points.  The winner of each round of play (i.e. the player who scored the most points) gets to choose which version of the rules will be used for the following round.  So an evening of play often switches back and forth between the standard rules and the Zombie Arena alternative rules.  It makes no difference, the scoring is the same.  The first player to 500 wins!  Of course, you can set any value for the winner."

ZOMBIE ARENA
When Zombies Attack! Alternate Rules designed by John S. Jacobs

THE STORY
Your group of survivors has been captured by ruthless outlaws who couldn't care less for the preservation of the human species, or for your well being! For their entertainment, they have thrown you into a pit full of zombies with the promise that those who survive will be set free - or be welcomed into their ranks.

THE RULES
Each survivor in the arena starts with an equal amount of WZA! dice, with four dice each being the ideal number. Select who will go first by any method prefered. The first player rolls the dice and sorts them as per the normal WZA! rules, with the following exceptions:

• There is no Quarantine Zone.
• Wandering Zombies are automatically passed to the player on the left.
• Dead Zombies you keep per normal rules but they never come back (unless you are using the Lucky Break optional rule found below).
• If you roll an Outbreak, you are zombie meat and eliminated from the game.
• You must roll the dice at least once per turn. Afterwards, you may pass all remaining Hungry Zombies to the left or continue rolling.
• Play continues around the table until all the zombies are dead or all the players have died.
• Dead Zombies are used as a tiebreaker to determine a winner if multiple players survive or if all the players die in the arena.

Optional Rule
Lucky Break. If you roll an Outbreak, you may continue the fight instead of being eliminated. To do this, return one Dead Zombie from your Gravesite back into the arena for each die in the Outbreak roll. If you do not have enough Dead Zombies in your Gravesite, you are eliminated unless another player wants to throw in a Dead Zombie from his Gravesite to make up the difference.

For Example: You roll an Outbreak with four dice. Four Dead Zombies must be returned into the arena from your Gravesite to continue play. If you do not have four Dead Zombies, other players may help out by giving you some of their Dead Zombies to make the difference.

For those of you already playing When Zombies Attack! here is a quick alternate solo game. Take your 16 zombies and see if you can outrun them in 3 turns. My kid, Nick, and co-creator John have succeeded. I have yet to achieve this feat. The closest I came was down to one zombie.
