Torched Earth is a set of three role playing game settings featuring a unique resolution engine. All three settings are post-apocalyptic in nature but set in three different genres: fantasy, modern, and sci-fi. Torched Earth: A New Beginning, is a fantasy world where a war between the gods changes the world. Torched Earth: The Fist of God, is set in a modern world after a comet impacts and ravages the planet. Torched Earth: Beyond the Veil, is a sci-fi setting where earth is rendered nearly inhabitable after being engulfed in an intergalactic alien war.
The Torched Earth RPG engine uses all the dice in a traditional polyhedral set: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20, and d100. Each die type has a specific role in the game along with its own separate mechanic. The Torched Earth RPG engine is to be published under the Creative Commons license. - Use the d4 for resolving the effects of an attack in a limited open-ended roll.
- Use the d6 for magic/psychic resolution in a dice pool mechanic.
- Use the d8 for character creation and for random measurements. quantity

- Use the d12 for attributes and save rolls where beating a target number is the goal.
- Use the d20 for combat resolution in an opposed roll-off style.
- Use the d100 for advancement and all random tables.
