Attack Dice was founded by two longtime friends, Emi G. Palisoc and John S. Jacobs, who first delved into gaming together in the mid-1980s. Like many gamers, they dreamed of owning a gaming store. In 1996, they turned that dream into reality by opening Sanctuary Games & Books in Jacksonville, Florida. The store was a local success, thriving for 11 years before being sold in 2007. During this time, they also ran an annual game convention called GrailQuest from 1999 to 2006, which still holds a special place in the hearts of many fans.
As life progressed, with wives and children entering the picture, Emi and John continued to make time for gaming. In November 2011, they revisited a game concept they had originally developed in 1998, initially called Roach Party! After further refinement and playtesting, it evolved into When Zombies Attack! In January 2012, they founded ATTACK DICE LLC, and on June 1, 2012, When Zombies Attack! was officially released.
